The Great Catch

While teaching by a lake, Jesus used Simon Peter’s boat as a platform to speak to a large crowd and then instructed the tired fishermen to let down their nets in deep water. Despite having caught nothing all night, Simon obeyed, resulting in a catch so massive that it nearly sank two boats and required help from their partners, James and John. Overwhelmed by this miracle, Simon fell at Jesus’ feet in humility, recognizing his own sinfulness. Jesus comforted him and revealed a new purpose for his life: to “catch men” as a follower of Christ, leading the fishermen to leave everything behind and join Him.
