In Egypt, Joseph was sold to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, and became highly successful because God was with him. Potiphar eventually put Joseph in charge of his entire household, but this success was interrupted when Potiphar’s wife falsely accused Joseph of a crime after he refused her advances. Though he was wrongly imprisoned, Joseph found favor with the prison keeper and was put in charge of other prisoners, including Pharaoh’s butler and baker. By God’s power, Joseph correctly interpreted the dreams of these two men, foretelling the butler’s restoration to his job and the baker’s execution.
