Hannah was deeply saddened by her inability to have children, so she prayed at the tabernacle, promising that if God gave her a son, he would serve Him always. God answered her prayer with the birth of Samuel, and when he was older, Hannah faithfully brought him to Eli the priest to live and work in the presence of the Lord. One night, the boy Samuel heard God calling his name and learned to respond, “Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening”.
